Sheoak Falls, Great Ocean Road, Lorne - Victoria, Australia. My muscles were aching. I stretched back in the driver's seat and pushed my foot on the accelerator. I was determined to get to Sheoak falls - the second falls of the day - before sunset. My friend Morgan and I had exhausted ourselves visiting Erskine Falls earlier in the day.

Sheoak Falls are located only a few Kilometres out of Lorne heading southwest towards Wye River. Look for the sign posted turnoff on the right hand side. It is only a 10 minute quick walk from the carpark. The falls are nothing spectacular, but always worth a view and a walk to stretch your legs.

This 2.8km return walk enters the valley of Sheoak Creek. It is a short walk upstream, and worth walking a little further to Swallow Cave, aptly named for the Swallows that nest there during spring. This is a Grade 3 walk. Total distance of the track is 2.8km. Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Short steep hill sections, a rough surface.

Inside the Great Otway National Park near Lorne, Sheoak Falls is an easy detour off Victoria's Great Ocean Road. This Australian waterfall is a 600 metre walk from the car park. Sheoak Falls was just south of the beach town of Lorne along the Great Ocean Road. On the day we visited in November 2017, the beach was very busy thanks to the beautiful weather Further west of Lorne for another 23km, we happened to spot this koala hanging from one of the tall gum trees at Kennett River Lorne (where Sheoak Falls was located) was our last town stop before returning to.

Sheoak Falls is a good place to stretch your legs when driving along the Great Ocean Road or if you're warming up for a day ahead of exploring the many waterfalls in the area. At just 15 metres tall, Sheoak Falls isn't a giant but it's normally flowing well and still pretty stunning because of the whole area and experience of getting.

A two-year trial of new laws that require rock fishers to wear a lifejacket at high-risk locations will commence on 1 March 2022. For Great Otway National Park this includes: Artillery Rocks, west of Lorne. The rock platform opposite Sheoak Falls, south of Lorne. This factsheet includes maps of the affected areas.

This is a fantastic route to She-oak and Hendersons Falls in Great Otway National Park. The route starts from She-oak Falls where is there is a large parking area. The hike up from the Great Ocean Road is magnificent. The route follows a cool and ferny creek. The route back via Castle Rock is much drier but the view from the lookout worth is well worth it.
